Summer in full swing

There has been lots of activity up in Smallwood with weekenders and Floridians returning and sprucing up their cabins and cottages. The lake opens in just 2 weeks and we are looking forward to meeting all our friends from last year at the beach. There have been several bear sightings this season. Mothers and cubs can be found rooting through bird feeders in the night and these bears are smart because they know when Thursday night rolls around which is the day before garbage pick up. Springtime in Smallwood

The family was in Smallwood this past weekend and suffice it say all remnants of snow have vanished. Spotted a beautiful red cardinal in the evergreens. Daffodil stems are just poking out of the ground. A long and relaxing walk around the lake with 6 year old son Evan gave us a lot of time to discuss his world of Kindergarten and playmates. He delighted in taking his socks and shoes off and dipping his toes in the water off the dock. Look for more frequent postings to this blog now that the warmer weather is on its way.

The best time to buy in decades

President Obama signed the stimulus package yesterday which includes a gigantic $8,000 tax credit for first time home buyers. Unlike previous credits, it does not need to be paid back. This is a great opportunity to jump into the market where interest rates remain historically low at around 5% and even lower and bargains galore to be found.

I was up in Smallwood this weekend, the white tailed deer were abundant and the snow is slowly melting away. Come for a drive and take a look around. I promise you will be delighted.

Ground Hog Day

Tomorrow is Ground Hog Day marking the very first signs of Spring and another wonderful season in Smallwood. The bulbs are starting to stir, the sap from the trees is rising and the roots of the perennials are waking up. Don’t be discouraged by the cold and snow on the ground as it will not be long until summer.
